The World Languages Department offers Pathways in French, Japanese, & Spanish. By completing 3 semesters in the same language students will develop basic communication skills and cultural knowledge and appreciation. Studying a world language provides an exciting opportunity to learn about and experience new cultural practices, contemplate one’s own language and how communication works, and tap into new communities around the world. In Georgia, being able to use a second or third language opens many education, career, and social opportunities: Mexico, Canada, and Japan regularly rank in Georgia’s top 10 trade partners; Spanish and French are the 1st and 5th most common languages after English; and most Georgia universities offer language programs and study abroad opportunities for French, Japanese, and Spanish.
