Karen Boyd- Volunteer of the Year

McClure is truly fortunate to have a community of included and involved parents. Daily, you will see many volunteers helping with things like duty-free lunch and supplying lunch for teachers. In the mornings, Chick-Fil-A Biscuits are sold on Wednesday and Culvers Custard is sold on Friday in the atrium. You will find parents greeting students in the car line. Parental involvement is a key component to student success. When parents are involved in their child’s education, children will have high academic achievement, better classroom conduct, and more positive social and emotional development.

McClure’s success is also dependent on parental involvement, and each year we select one volunteer that has gone above and beyond to help our school. This year, the school named that the volunteer of the year as Karen Boyd! Mrs. Boyd has shown incredible dedication in her years at McClure. She has helped with running Dare Day, Chick-fil-A and Custard sales in the mornings, duty-free lunches, and facilitating holiday snacks for students. She has also volunteered for the school numerous times, for back-to-school Meet-and-Greets and chaperoning on field trips.

On Wednesday, March 1st, the Cobb County school district hosted a luncheon to honor the volunteers of the year. In attendance were those chosen from all elementary, middle, and high schools all over Cobb County. The event was held at the event center at Jim Miller Park. The volunteers were celebrated and called up one at a time to receive a certificate and a pin. Each school principal was in attendance, and the volunteers invited one family member to attend the celebration.

McClure is truly fortunate to have such a strong partnership with the parents within our community. Mrs. Boyd was a perfect choice to represent dedicated parents that help to make our school great. Throughout the past few years, she has shown superior leadership and served as a role model for collaboration and consistency towards the programs and committees within McClure. She genuinely loves our school and being involved with anything she can. Mrs. Boyd currently has two 8th grade students in our school. Luckily for McClure, she has a rising 6th grader and will be able to support our school for years to come!
