Miss Charlotte & Miss Fannie B

They were simply Miss Charlotte and Miss Fannie B. to several generations of Cobb County students.  Miss Charlotte taught for forty-four years, and Miss Fannie B. taught for forty-three. Both sisters taught the primary grades at Acworth High School, which housed grades one through eleven, until it closed in 1958. Miss Charlotte went on to teach at North Cobb High School, and Miss Fannie B. remained with the primary students at Acworth Elementary School.

They were not just teachers, but pillars of the community. Both sisters were deeply involved in their church, with Miss Fannie B. dedicating thirty-seven years to teaching Sunday school. Miss Fannie B. was instrumental in the effort to name our school after her sister, a testament to their impact on our community. She continued to be a part of our school, sharing stories of their combined careers and maintaining a special connection with us, including with former student, sixth-grade math teacher Robert Arnold. Their passing, Miss Charlotte in 1999 at the age of 85, and Miss Fannie B. in 2009 at the age of 91, left a void in our community.
