Chief Wayne Pickett Sworn in as Cobb Schools’ New Police Chief

May 27, 2025—The Cobb County School District (CCSD) has officially welcomed Chief Wayne Pickett as the new leader of the Cobb Schools Police Department. With the backing of the Cobb County Board of Education, Chief Pickett was officially sworn in on May 16, 2025, during a ceremony honoring his dedication to school safety.
Chief Pickett’s appointment comes after the recent passing of long-serving and deeply respected Chief Ron Storey, whose legacy of service and dedication left a lasting mark on the district. Chief Pickett will continue building on the legacy left by his friend and mentor by championing an unwavering commitment to protecting Cobb’s students, staff, and schools.
Under Chief Pickett’s leadership, the Cobb Schools safety team will remain a model of integrity of service by upholding and advancing safety and security standards.
With over 41 years of comprehensive law enforcement experience, including over a decade of service within the CCSD Police Department, Chief Pickett brings a wealth of experience, dedication, and a strong vision for community-focused leadership.
The Cobb Schools Police Department includes a team of more than 80 highly trained and experienced officers who are supported by the latest security technology.
