McEachern Advances in State Rankings with Impressive Win

August 25, 2025—The McEachern Indians were unranked in 6A prior to Friday's game against North Cobb, but that changed with a strong performance on their home turf at Dorsey Field. The Indians frustrated the high-power Warrior offense led by four-star junior QB Teddy Jarrard and put up 200 more yards of offensive production in a 21-0 victory on Friday night. The win catapulted the Indians to #6 in 6A, their best rank since the 2019 region championship season.
"We ran the ball extremely well and controlled the clock offensively," said Indian Head Coach Kareem Reid. "On defense, we put together another outstanding performance holding them under 80 yards passing and less than 100 yards rushing."
All of McEachern's 21 points were scored in the second quarter by running back Henry Pullen. He gained 223 yards on the ground and two TDs. He scored his first TD through the air on a 42-yard reception from senior QB Calvin Pittman Jr.
"Henry had a special night, running for over 200 yards," said Coach Reid. "We knew we were going to lean on him all night, and he answered the call!"
The Indian defense held the Warriors to 155 total yards and intercepted Jarrard twice. They threw enough different looks at him to keep him off-balance the entire game. Whenever North Cobb began gaining momentum, the Indian defense stepped up and closed the gaps. Linebackers Brayden Matthews and Michai Rowe combined for five tackles-for-loss.
Coach Reid was pleased with his team's complete performance, but identified a few areas that need work before this week's matchup with Marietta. "We need to tackle a little better and limit self-inflicted wounds with penalties," he said.
At halftime, 2024 McEachern grad and current NBA player Ace Bailey had his high school number (4) retired. Bailey played one season for Rutgers before entering the 2025 draft and was chosen fifth overall by the Utah Jazz. Retired principal Regina Montgomery was also present to celebrate with her former student.
The Indians head to Marietta on Friday to take on the Blue Devils at Northcutt Stadium. The Warriors will travel to East Coweta for their third game of the season.
