September 5, 2025—FOX5 Sports was on the Lassiter campus Thursday morning to present Head Coach Sean Thom and his football team with the High 5 Sports Team of the Week. The Trojans won 41-14 over Northview last week and are currently 3-0 this season. To celebrate the occasion, the team, cheerleaders, band, and the entire senior class were treated to an early morning pep rally courtesy of FOX5's Paul Milliken.

“Our sports department looks for a team that is doing well,” Milliken said before the presentation, “but also one that is displaying a lot of heart on the field, a lot of grit, a team that seems to be rallying the community. Lassiter was a clear, easy choice.”

It was the first award given this season by FOX5 Sports, and the energy inside the gym was broadcast live across the Atlanta airwaves. 

“It’s great for the school,” Lassiter Athletic Director Scott Kelly said. “It’s great for the community. It’s great for the students. For them to get excited and be 3-0 going into the first big region game, we couldn’t ask for much more.”

The Trojans' coach couldn't agree more.

“It feels good,” Coach Thom said prior to receiving the trophy shaped like a human hand. “We’ve talked about focusing on the process and the work, not the results, and I think the work that (the team has) been putting in is the reason why we’re 3-0.”

After Milliken presented the coach with the trophy on live television, Thom handed it to senior quarterback Mitch Seaman who lifted it above his head in triumph. The team and cheerleaders surrounded him in celebration while the Trojan marching band launched into the team fight song. Coaches, teachers, and administrators looked on with pride.

“Some teams have 5-star athletes,” Coach Thom said, “but we have kids with 5-star character.”

That, as much as anything, might be why the Lassiter football program earned the High 5 Team of the Week.
