November 14, 2025 — Each week, Cobb Schools, with the support of BSN Sports, celebrates student-athletes who inspire and excel in their sports, academics, and communities. This week's Athlete of the Week (AOW) honors go to Ian Hulbert of Sprayberry High School and Janie Myers of Walton High School for their achievements on and off the field.

Ian is a two-sport athlete who plays multiple positions for the Yellow Jacket football team. Janie is the GHSA MVP and a record-setting volleyball player for the Raiders.

Sprayberry's football program is 70 years old, and this year's Yellow Jacket team is the highest-scoring in school history. Ian has been a huge part of that success and is an inspiring example of a one-percent mentality. Now in his second year with the team, Ian has continuously improved and is willing to play any position necessary. He is a good student in the classroom and a great teammate on the field. He is a junior and also runs track and field in the Spring for the Yellow Jackets.

"Ian is a hard worker, and he has bought into our team concept of putting the team first," said his coach, Pete Fominaya. "We asked him to play multiple positions, and he is willing and able to do whatever the team needs."

The athlete of the week's impact extends beyond the football field.

"He is a leader on our campus and a great student. We are very proud of Ian and he is very deserving of this award," Coach Fominaya concluded about his Athlete of the Week.

In their recent state championship victory over Alpharetta, Janie was selected MVP by GHSA. She also recorded her 1,000th career set in the finals. She's only a sophomore, but she has set the bar high for the rest of her team and leads by example. She plays volleyball year-round and is a hitter by position but can play anywhere on the court. She can keep things light with her easy-going personality and sense of humor.

"Janie is an incredible leader for our team," said Raider Head Coach Ashley Jones. "Being a setter is a huge responsibility, and there are a lot of decisions to make. As a sophomore, it is impressive how much command Janie has of the offense. She reads the opposing defense well and makes smart choices about which hitter to set at the right time to generate the most out of our offense."

Janie’s ability to balance leadership with humility has helped create a strong team culture.

"We are very fortunate to have several seniors on the team. Janie does a great job of respecting the older leadership while also finding her own voice. Janie is incredibly talented and hardworking, and her parents are very kind people who are super supportive of the whole program. I am excited to see what else she can accomplish in the next two years at Walton! I am sure great things from her are still to come," said Coach Jones proudly.
