Coach of the Month November 2025

November 18, 2025 — Dependable, positive, and deeply rooted in their school communities, Coaches Joe Soley and LaDesia Scott are the cornerstones who keep their programs—and students and school communities—thriving. That's why they stand out as Coaches of the Month.

"Our coaches teach a full day, and when the bell rings at 3:30, their work is only half done," explained Cobb's Director of Athletics Don Baker.

The Coach of the Month (COM) award recognizes one female and one male coach who demonstrate exceptional leadership and commitment across the District. In partnership with the Atlanta Braves and Good Game Atlanta, each COM winner receives a complimentary one-night stay at Aloft Atlanta at The Battery, along with a dinner provided by Good Game Atlanta.

"This is a small token of our appreciation for their incredible efforts, both in and out of the classroom," Baker continued. "They dedicate countless hours to supporting our student-athletes—often at the expense of time with their own families. We truly believe we have the best coaches in the state, and we want to celebrate them as often as we can."

This month's celebrated Coaches of the Month come from Allatoona and McEachern high schools, with Coach Soley leading Buccaneer volleyball and Coach Scott inspiring Indian cheer.

Joseph Soley, Volleyball, Allatoona

In the second round of the GHSA 4A playoffs, Coach Soley secured his 400th career volleyball win! He has been at Allatoona since the school opened in 2008. Under his leadership, the Lady Bucs have made the postseason for fifteen straight seasons and won the state title in 2019.

"Coach Soley represents everything we value in an educator and coach," said Allatoona Principal Lexie Bostick. "He is steady, dependable, and deeply committed to both his students and athletes. He leads with integrity and positivity, consistently modeling what it means to be a Buccaneer. In addition to leading our volleyball program to a state championship, Coach Soley also coaches tennis and is actively involved in student life. He helps organize and support events like Homecoming each year and is always one of the first to step up when something needs to be done. Allatoona is a better place because of him, and we are incredibly proud to call him one of our own."

His impact is felt across Allatoona.

"His involvement touches so many parts of campus life, and he’s always willing to help wherever he’s needed," agreed Buccaneer Athletic Director Chris Murray. "Coach Soley has a heart and a passion for the Allatoona community and family. This passion translates into his work ethic and the job that he gets to do every day. He is a part of the school’s identity and a constant reminder of what it means to take pride in being part of this community. Coach Soley is a constant here and represents the heart and tradition of Allatoona."

LaDesia Scott, Cheer, McEachern

Getting better each day, 1% at a time, is one of the primary lessons taught in all sports at Cobb. Coach Scott models this goal perfectly and teaches her cheerleaders to do the same. She has a true 1% attitude and has done a great job with the girls and the special needs cheer squad at McEachern.

"Coach Scott is the embodiment of dedication, dependability, and hard work. As the leader of the cheer program, she sets a powerful example through her tireless commitment to excellence. Her support extends beyond her athletes. She uplifts her colleagues and contributes to a positive, collaborative school culture. Whether she's coaching on the sidelines or mentoring behind the scenes, Coach Scott leads with integrity, passion, and a deep care for her students' success," said McEachern Principal Krystal Wattley.

The McEachern coach rallies more than just her cheer team.

"She’s a cornerstone of the McEachern family and has been an integral part of our school community since 2020. She is a constant presence at extracurricular events, showing unwavering support for her students in all their endeavors. Coach Scott regularly offers tutoring sessions outside of school hours, ensuring her students have the tools and encouragement they need to thrive both in the classroom and in life. She also participates in our Tribal Sparks Squad, an organization that promotes school spirit amongst staff. Coach Scott exemplifies what it means to be a McEachern Indian!" concluded Principal Wattley proudly.
