vaccine information for staff

Over the past weeks and months, Cobb staff has partnered with Cobb & Douglas Public Health to ensure Cobb teachers can receive COVID-19 vaccinations as soon as they become available. Following Governor Brian Kemp’s announcement yesterday, teachers and other school staff will soon be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

On Friday, February 26, all Cobb staff members received detailed COVID-19 vaccination instructions from Cobb & Douglas Public Health and the District.

“I am excited that Governor Kemp is expanding vaccine eligibility to educators. I am glad that he values the work that we do and considers us of high priority. While we are doing our best to practice safe social distancing measures, a vaccine will help us stay even safer,” said Pine Mountain Middle School teacher Hannah Fox. Cobb nurses and staff will assist Cobb & Douglas Public Health in distributing COVID-19 to Cobb educators.

Cobb nurses have been in the process of completing the Department of Public Health’s COVID-19 vaccine administration training in anticipation of this announcement for the last few weeks. Our nurses and staff are ready to support as many Cobb educators who choose to take the COVID-19 vaccination.

Our public safety officers, school nurses, and school staff 65 years of age and older have already had the opportunity to be vaccinated through CDPH and other local providers. Now, thanks to Governor Kemp’s announcement, we are moving ahead with plans for a wider distribution of vaccines to all interested staff.

“I received both vaccines already as I am in the 65 and over age category. I am appreciative of the seamless sign-up and procedures taken through the process. I was relieved and feel grateful for the coordinated efforts between the district and the provider,” explained Timber Ridge Elementary School teacher Laurie Weiner. “I continue to follow guidelines recommended by the CDC at home and the CCSD. Timber Ridge has implemented suggested guidelines as well. I feel more secure teaching my students since I have received both vaccinations.”

More information about the COVID-19 vaccine is available on the websites of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Georgia Department of Public Health, and Cobb & Douglas Public Health.
