Mustangs Victorious in Region Showdown at Allatoona

ACWORTH — On Friday night, Kennesaw Mountain (3-0) topped Allatoona (0-3), 22-21, behind Cayman Prangley’s 179-yard night.
The Mustang quarterback picked up 56 of those yards via a touchdown pass to Savion Riley in the fourth quarter than gave Kennesaw Mountain their 22-21 lead.
Riley finished the night with 104 receiving yards.
Prangley also connected with Jailen Taylor for a 28-yard touchdown in the third quarter and ran for a 2-point conversion.
Freshman Chance Arthur accounted for the other Kennesaw Mountain touchdown on a 13-yard run.
Jayden Ponder led the way for the Buccaneers with over 100 rushing yards and a touchdown. The Allatoona running game worked for them often as Marcus Taylor ran for the other Buccaneer touchdown.
Allatoona kicker, Gray Kelley, booted in two field goals, including one from 46 yards to close the first half.
While Allatoona is off to a surprising 0-3 start, the two games in which they actually played were back-and-forth affairs that came down to late-game plays. The Langston-Hughes loss was canceled and forfeited due to weather.
The Bucs have started off both of their games strongly. They built a 10-0 lead against Kennesaw Mountain before the Mustangs found their footing.
For Kennesaw Mountain, this win felt like a statement to the rest of the region. The Mustangs are undefeated, and they’re for real.
Next week, the Mustangs look to remain undefeated as they host Sprayberry while Allatoona goes to South Cobb seeking their first win.
