Cobb Students Raise the Bar in Advanced Placement Success

March 26, 2026 — Cobb students are reaching new heights in academic achievement, and the latest Advanced Placement (AP) results tell a powerful story of growth and dedication.
Data released by the College Board shows Georgia continues to outperform the national average in AP success, ranking 16th in the nation and exceeding the national average for the percentage of students passing AP exams.
But the Cobb County School District stands out even more.
Strong Gains in AP Performance
In Cobb, 32.1% of the Class of 2025 earned a 3 or higher on an AP exam. That's a significant increase from 27.4% for the Class of 2024, marking a 4.7 percentage point jump in just one year.
Even more impressive, 56.6% of all AP exams taken by Cobb students in 2025 earned a qualifying score of 3, 4, or 5 — up from 53.7% the previous year. That means more than half of all AP exams taken by Cobb students are translating into potential college credit.
Participation is also rising. In 2025, 39.7% of Cobb students took at least one AP exam during high school, compared to 36.4% in 2024. Among graduates, that number climbs even higher — 44.3% of Cobb’s Class of 2025 took an AP exam before graduating.
This growth reflects more than just numbers. It highlights the district's commitment to expanding access to advanced coursework and supporting students as they take on new academic challenges.
Cobb students earned 11,779 qualifying AP scores in 2025. That translates to an estimated 35,337 college credits and more than $10 million in potential tuition savings for families.
With more students enrolling in AP courses, more exams being taken, and more qualifying scores earned, Cobb Schools continues to expand what's possible for students.
