Financial Audit Says Tax Dollars Are Being Spent Wisely, District Announces New Bus App

January 22, 2026 — During the first regularly scheduled meeting of 2026, the Cobb Schools Board of Education approved several improvement projects funded through the voter-approved Ed-SPLOST VI.
Thanks to Ed-SPLOST and the district's strong financial stewardship, as confirmed once again by the annual independent audit and triple-A (Aaa/AAA) credit ratings, Cobb Schools continues to fund critical renovations and improvements without relying on costly bond financing.
The Board’s approval paves the way for East Side Elementary School to receive a new playground. At Allatoona High School, pedestrian ramps will be repaired, and the canopies on both sides of the main entrance will be re-roofed. Griffin Middle School will see several doors and windows replaced, an emergency generator installed, elevator refurbishments, and renovations to Family and Consumer Science (FACS) classrooms. There will also be security-related modifications to the school.
New Bus App Coming to Cobb Schools
The District is preparing to introduce new transportation technology designed to further enhance student safety, improve communication with families, and strengthen the reliability of our school bus fleet.
The new technology will be introduced in phases beginning later this school year to support a smooth, well-coordinated rollout across the District. This approach allows transportation teams to ensure systems are fully integrated and meet the needs of students, families, drivers, and staff before expanding districtwide. Families will receive updates as the rollout progresses, including information about when the technology will be available on their bus routes.
