Lassiter Repeats as Student Section of the Year

December 8, 2025 — “We’ve got spirit, yes we do. We’ve got spirit, how ‘bout you?”
Nearly every student section across America breaks out this chant at some point in a school season. However, few can match the truthfulness of that cheer with those that scream it in full-throated pride at Lassiter High School.
“Our motto at Lassiter is T4L—Trojans 4 Life—and our students fully lean in and embody that,” Head Cheerleading Coach Jenna Fischer explained. “They are proud to be part of Trojan Nation and show that by decking out for themes at sporting events, showing up early, and cheering loudly.”
Lassiter Principal Dr. Chris Richie and his staff take school pride seriously.
“Our message to students has always been that school spirit isn’t just a temporary phrase that you leave behind after you graduate,” he said. “Our school spirit is driven by our belief in T4L.”
That school spirit was rewarded once again. At the beginning of December, the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Student Athlete Advisory Council announced that Lassiter had been voted as the winner of the Student Section of the Year contest for the 5A-6A classifications. This marked back-to-back wins for Trojan Nation as the school also won the Student Section Spirit Challenge in 2024.

“Winning student section of the year for the second year in a row is a testament to Lassiter’s tradition of unwavering spirit as an identity of our school,” Dr. Richie noted before adding, “and lets our school and community know that Lassiter students have set the standard for school spirit.”
When asked what stands out about Trojan Nation’s spirit, Coach Fischer was quick to point out many ways that the student body gets behind their school and the teams that represent it.
“Our student section focuses on cheering for Lassiter, not against other teams,” she pointed out. “Our positivity and spirit are easy to highlight. Lassiter also has some awesome traditions, including our 3rd quarter Supa Sousa Swag band chant, the T4L Get Hype Cheer, our school Mascots leading our student section through the entirety of the game, and our students going all out for the themes. The band, students, cheerleaders, and faculty all work together as a team to embody the Trojans For Life spirit.”
Dr. Richie went a step further.
“For our students, school spirit at Lassiter is about showing up for the school that shows up for them every single day,” he emphasized. “You embrace the theme, you lose your voice, and you turn our student section into something electric because you love your school, you support your classmates, and you love the Trojans. School spirit at Lassiter is a tradition that gets passed on to younger students and truly creates a sense of belonging and family.”

The GHSA began this annual contest in 2021 to determine which school has the best student section in Georgia. Entrants are encouraged to create a short video showcasing school spirit that makes a difference with their energy, creativity, and school pride. Last year, Lassiter utilized the passion of student content creator Audrey Moss to produce a highlight reel for entry. After that submission helped win the title in 2024, the Lassiter administration once again called on Moss, now a junior, to edit a hype video that would impress the Advisory Council.
“Audrey did an exceptional job that showed how our student section is a loud, electric, unified group that is packed with spirit and support for their classmates in a variety of activities,” Dr. Richie said proudly. “Audrey did an amazing job portraying that school spirit at Lassiter isn’t just defined by what takes place in the stadium—school spirit spreads across all campus activities that truly show how our students are supportive of each other in all things Lassiter.”
Videos from the winning schools—including Toombs County High School, which won in the A-4A classifications—will be featured on the video boards in Mercedes-Benz Stadium during the GHSA State Football Championships.
This marks the fourth time Cobb Schools have won the contest. Allatoona High School’s student section was selected as the winner of the title for the A-4A classification in 2023 and 2024.
