Opportunities for All: Cobb's Community Connections Resource Fair

February 9, 2026 — For the 10th year in a row, Cobb Schools recently hosted an event designed to connect students with disabilities with out-of-school resources they didn’t know existed.
The Community Connections Resource Fair drew hundreds of people to the Cobb Innovation and Technology Academy, where they were eager to learn about new extracurricular opportunities that fit their families’ needs and schedules.
"I didn't realize how many programs were available for kids with special needs, so it really opened my eyes to all these opportunities for my kids to try new activities and learn things they may have never learned before," said Cobb parent, Evelyn Martinez.
Families flowed from table to table, exploring everything from summer swim and baseball programs to learning about history and science at the Georgia Aquarium and several museums across metro Atlanta.
"To see all these smiling faces and happy children is awesome, and our vendors work so hard to make this not only informative, but fun," said Cobb's Special Education Supervisor, Dominique Terens.

More than 50 organizations participated in the event to provide additional opportunities for Cobb families.
It's a helpful event not only for families and students, but also for the teachers who seek to help.
"As a teacher, being able to connect preschool families with resources is what we do best, and it's encouraging to do," said Clarkdale Elementary teacher Heidi Hill.
