The deadline for SY2025 Fall Semester SB42 applications is July 1, 2024.

Senate Bill 42 (SB42), which was adopted at the beginning of the SY2021-2022 school year, allows home study (homeschool) students in grades 6 -12 to enroll in their zoned public school to participate in extracurricular or interscholastic activities. There are specific requirements that must be met for the student to be eligible to enroll and to participate.

Enrolling Adult Responsibilities

At least 30 calendar days prior to the first day of the semester, the enrolling adult must send an email to the zoned school principal and Don Baker, the superintendent’s designee. The email must include:

  • Written notice of intent to participate using the SB42 Enrollment Request form.
  • Copy of the student’s most recent annual progress assessment report.
  • Transcript from the home study program instructor if GHSA sport or activity.
  • Copy of the Georgia Department of Education Home Study Program Declaration of Intent form.

The enrolling adult must also complete registration using CCSD’s Online Registration System (OLR) at least 30 calendar days prior to the first day of the semester. All required enrollment documentation must be submitted.

Enrolling Adult Responsibilities - Returning SB42 Students

At least 30 calendar days prior to the first day of the semester, the enrolling adult must send an email to the zoned school principal and Don Baker, the superintendent’s designee. The email must include:

  • Written notice of intent to participate using the SB42 Enrollment Request form.
  • Copy of the student’s most recent annual progress assessment report.
  • Transcript from the home study program instructor if GHSA sport or activity.

The enrolling adult will not use CCSD’s Online Registration System (OLR) to enroll their student. The school will handle enrollment.
