Two Kennesaw Mountain Band Students Selected for 2026 Rose Parade Performance

December 12, 2025 — Soon, Pasadena’s iconic Rose Parade will once again take center stage on New Year’s Day, carrying forward a tradition more than 100 years in the making—and this year, two Cobb students will step into the memory-making event.

The parade will feature 250 students from across the country who have earned spots in the Bands of America Honor Band. The honored students will perform during the 5.5-mile parade.

Among those selected to participate are two students from Kennesaw Mountain High School, who secured their place in the parade after a rigorous online application process.

Junior Jackson Huff and sophomore Kevin Alvarado will set off for California in a matter of weeks to take part in a once-in-a-lifetime event.

"It's fun that there's a culture where students want to excel and want to go above and beyond and create these really cool experiences," said Kennesaw Mountain Band Director Michael Huebner.

Both students credited their teachers with helping them discover joy in music throughout the school year, which has evolved into a passion that extends beyond the classroom.

"It just shows how amazing our music teachers are and how much work and time they put into us," said Huff, who plays the trumpet.

As Cobb Schools prepare to cheer on two of their own on the national stage, there's a sense of pride and community that they hope to bring to the Rose Parade in a matter of weeks.

Alvarado practices the drums at Kennesaw Mountain High School.

"I hope they see how good we are. As a high schooler and someone representing the school, I think it's important people see us for who we are," said Alvarado, who plays the drums and guitar.
