Mountainfest Brings Community Together

From an assortment of food, musical selections, and pop-up shops to rock climbing and nail painting, this year’s Mountainfest included something for everyone!
The annual event hosted by Kennesaw Mountain High School was filled with laughter and smiling faces, as Cobb families enjoyed student performances and engaging activities. The beloved tradition showcased the incredible talents of Cobb students while connecting families, local businesses, and school supporters.
Throughout the day, the sounds of student bands and the energy of drama performances filled the air. Students from multiple Cobb schools took the stage, impressing crowds with their artistic talents and demonstrating the strength of the District’s fine arts programs.
More than 110 vendors lined the event space, offering a wide variety of crafts, foods, and services. Between performances, families explored the booths, sampled delicious treats, and supported local businesses. Kids enjoyed a full day of activities, including rock wall climbing, trampolining, face painting, and more.
The celebration continued into the evening with the Mountainfest After Dark concert inside the Gunderman Theater. Event organizer Lesley Litt, a parent of a Kennesaw Mountain High School alum, welcomed professional bands After School Special and Departure to the stage.
Cobb Schools Superintendent Chris Ragsdale and Board of Education Chair David Chastain joined the crowd, enjoying the professional-level concert production that astounded many first-time attendees.
Reflecting on Mountainfest's importance, Mr. Litt said, "This event is very important insofar as it showcases our students' talents, exposes the students to professional artists, and raises much-needed funds for the arts programs. It also helps to bind our community together. Music is as common as a heartbeat to all involved."
Mr. Litt also praised the local sponsors who made the event possible, noting that many are longstanding supporters of Cobb Schools and the arts community.
Mountainfest 2025 continued its tradition of celebrating creativity, building connections, and supporting student success in the arts thanks to outstanding performances, vibrant vendors, and strong community support.
