June 4, 2025—During Financial Literacy Month in April, schools across the nation participate in Intuit for Education's annual Hour of Finance Challenge. The nationwide initiative engages middle and high school students in building essential financial literacy skills through interactive activities and real-world scenarios. The Cobb Innovation and Technology Academy (CITA) has been named one of the top-performing schools in Georgia.

"The Intuit Power of Finance Challenge is a powerful example of how CITA staff go above and beyond to create meaningful, real-world learning experiences for our students," said Dr. Tiffany Barney, CITA Director.

"Mrs. Melissa Rommelman, co-advisor of CITA’s Future Business Leaders of America chapter, fostered an environment where students could actively engage with financial literacy. This initiative broadened their understanding and equipped them with a valuable tool for planning their future. We are incredibly proud of both our students and instructors for setting a high standard. They truly reflect our belief: Your choice. Your future," Dr. Barney concluded.

Through the program, CITA students learned to apply personal finance principles like budgeting, saving, and managing credit through interactive, digital scenarios. Their efforts earned them a top spot in the state, a testament to their hard work and enthusiasm for learning these essential financial skills.

"We believe every student deserves the opportunity to build the skills they need to be financially successful. We’re inspired by educators who are creating meaningful moments for students," said Dave Zasada, Vice President of Education and Corporate Responsibility at Intuit. "Congratulations to the Cobb Innovation and Technology Academy! We are proud to recognize their achievement in helping empower the next generation with the knowledge they need to take control of their financial futures."

The Hour of Finance Challenge, organized by Intuit for Education, is a national, free competition designed to make financial education simple, engaging, and rewarding for students, educators, and districts.
