Cobb Has Strong Showing at Positive Athlete Awards Banquet

The Cobb County School District (CCSD) continues to lead the state in fostering positive character and leadership among student-athletes. With an impressive 1,379 nominations—more than any other district in Georgia—CCSD's commitment to excellence was evident at the 2024–25 Positive Athlete Georgia Awards, held in early June.
"These accolades highlight the dedication of Cobb's student-athletes, coaches, and schools to not only athletic excellence but also to character, leadership, and community involvement," said District Athletic Director Don Baker. "Positive Athlete is an outstanding program, and it is an honor to have so many of our own recognized at this banquet."
Three-time Olympic Gold Medalist Gail Devers and NFL standout and UGA alum Champ Bailey joined founder and CEO Scott Pederson at Piedmont Church to hand out the awards and celebrate all the area's Positive Athletes.
Several CCSD individuals and schools received top honors:
Wrestling: Nassir Boukari of Wheeler High School was named the state's Most Positive Wrestler.
Special Olympics: Ty Brown, a senior and four-year varsity soccer manager at Lassiter High School, earned the state's Most Positive Special Olympian award.
