Cobb shines in Georgia's school report card.

November 12, 2025 — In the newly released Georgia school report card, Cobb Schools stands out as one of the best places to teach and learn in the state.

Cobb continues to outpace the state average as well as other metro districts when it comes to student success. This aligns with recent success, including a record-breaking graduation rate, ACT scores, and SAT scores, which showcase that Cobb is preparing students for their next steps in education in a more effective way than others.

Cobb was recently named one of the top 5 counties to live in the entire country, specifically because of our schools. Parents don’t need to see test scores or formulas to know they are giving their children the best opportunity to succeed…but it doesn’t hurt," said Cobb Schools Board Chair David Chastain.

Using the College and Career Ready Performance Index, schools across the state are given a grade based on how students demonstrate Content Mastery, Progress, Closing Gaps, and Readiness.

Content Mastery

This measures the proficiency of all students on the Georgia Milestones. A score of 100 is equivalent to all students scoring a level 3 on the state assessment. A score of 50 is equal to all students scoring a level 2.

Cobb elementary, middle, and high schools all outpaced the state in content mastery for the 2024-2025 school year.

  • Elementary Schools: +7 points above the state average.
  • Middle Schools: +10.5 points above the state average.
  • High Schools: +13.6 points above the state average.

The middle school level achieved a higher score in content mastery from 2024 to 2025.

High School Success: Graduation Rates

As Cobb Schools comes off a record-breaking graduation rate, the state's report card further indicates improvement across the district.

The five-year graduation rate of 90.5% shows that students who had an extra year to learn are achieving more success in obtaining their diplomas.

More Prepared for Next Steps

The Readiness metric is based on the Milestones Literacy metric; student attendance; and course completion, pathways, and tests that indicate students are ready for the next level of school or career.

Once again, all three levels of education within Cobb Schools outperformed the state.

  • Elementary Schools: +2.2 points above the state average.
  • Middle Schools: +3.2 points above the state average.
  • High Schools: +4.7 points above the state average.

The high school level saw an increase in Readiness compared to 2023-2024, which is consistent with improved graduation rates this year.

Making Progress

The Progress measure tracks how students improve from one year to the next, helping teachers see the impact of their instruction. Cobb’s results show students are continuing to learn and grow, with middle and high schools outperforming the state by 1.5 points and 10.5 points, respectively.

As Cobb students continue to make progress, state and national assessments continue to show that Cobb students are already more prepared for college, career, and life than their peers in Georgia.

"This year’s College and Career Ready Performance Index scores show strong improvements in our students’ academic achievement and their preparation for life,” said State School Superintendent Richard Woods.
