Cobb Schools' Athlete of the Week program is a weekly recognition of a male and a female student-athlete that perform at high levels in their sport, in the classroom, and in their school communities. The program is made possible by support from BSN.

This week's winners are from North Cobb and Lassiter:

Logan Bare, North Cobb, Baseball
Logan is a senior baseball player. In a recent three-game sweep of Harrison, he went 4-10 with two doubles and two RBIs. He also fielded well with zero errors at shortstop. On top of his game performance, Logan excels in the classroom with a 4.205 GPA.

"Logan is a throwback to a different era," said Warrior coach Tom Callahan. "He is a true leader and a 'ballplayer' in the old-fashioned sense of the word. His teammates readily follow because he holds himself to such a high standard on and off the field. Though he is a talented player, he has willed us to victory in several key games more by grit and hustle."

North Cobb Athletic Director Matt Williams agreed. "Logan gets it in the classroom and on the field. He has gone through some adversity with several injuries that would derail most people. Coach Callahan does a great job with his team by teaching them how to be leaders and Logan is a prime example of that."

Malia Loadwick, Lassiter, Soccer

Malia is a freshman goalkeeper at Lassiter High School. She is a two-sport athlete lettering in basketball and soccer. Malia earned two shutouts against region opponents Pope and South Cobb. She made four penalty kick saves in the Pope game including the final one in regulation to preserve a 0-0 tie to keep Lassiter's undefeated season alive. Malia is also a great student with a 4.33 GPA.

"Her presence is bigger than that of a freshman," said Malia's coach Robbie Galvin. "She has stepped up big for us this year and made a few major penalty kick saves in our game against Pope. Malia has helped us win eight shutouts this season."

"While her play speaks for itself," Coach Galvin continued, "more than that, Malia is a great teammate and person. She is a huge contributor to the success of the Lassiter girls soccer team."
