The Georgia Department of Education, in partnership with the Georgia Leaders of Educational Technology (GLET), recently announced the winners of the 2023 Cybersecurity Awareness Poster Contest. The Middle School level winner is Noel Baskin, a sixth grader at Campbell Middle School

“I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to all the winners of the 2023 Cybersecurity Poster Contest; your exceptional creativity and talent have helped to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity,” State School Superintendent Richard Woods said. “Cybersecurity is so important in our 21st-century digital world, and this contest offers an opportunity to draw attention to steps students can take to stay safe online. These student posters are visually appealing and carry an important message that will help to keep people safe online. I look forward to displaying them in the Georgia Department of Education offices.”

GLET sponsored the poster contest, which was open to all public, private, and homeschooled Georgia students in kindergarten through twelfth grade during Cybersecurity Month in October. GaDOE received 116 eligible submissions from students across Georgia. The Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) Georgia Chapter judges scored each poster based on creativity, visual appeal, relevance to the theme, informational content, originality and uniqueness, and overall presentation.

Dr. Camille Havis, principal of Campbell Middle School, attended the state recognition ceremony in place of Noel, who could not attend.
