The Cobb County School District’s Board of Education meeting highlighted some of the outstanding team members who serve our students daily.

“I am proud of our dedicated team members and the work they do to help our students succeed. They are the reason why families send their children to Cobb Schools. They are the reason why our students continually outpace their peers across the metro area, the state, and the entire nation. They are the reason why Cobb students graduate and return to this community to join the Cobb Schools team,” said Board Chair David Chastain.

Among those honored during the Board member were 8 Classified Employees of the Year (CEOTY) representing the 2020-2022 and 2022-2023 school years. The CEOTY employees are described as caring, compassionate, knowledgeable, kind, dependable, invaluable, the epitome of ‘Service with a smile, and having a passion for serving students.

The Cobb Schools Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) Department earned recognition for two national awards. FNS Executive Director Emily Hanlin was one of only three in the nation to be awarded the President’s Award of Excellence from the National School Nutrition Association for her recent work as president of the Georgia School Nutrition Association.

Cobb’s FNS Department was one of only 84 school nutrition programs in the entire country to receive the Turnip the Beet Award for summer 2021, which recognized Cobb’s outstanding summer meal program and District team members who worked hard to offer high-quality meals that are appetizing, appealing, and nutritious to children during the summer months.

In conjunction with National School Bus Safety Week, Cobb Board members also recognized the Cobb Schools Transportation Department in advance of National School Bus Safety Week and School Bus Driver Appreciation Week, both of which are being held October 17-21.

For those interested in joining the award-winning Cobb Schools team, the District is hosting a job fair from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. December 6 at the Cobb Energy Centre. Candidates will have the opportunity to pursue positions with the Cobb Schools Food and Nutrition Services and the Transportation, Maintenance Fleet Maintenance, Special Education, and Police departments. There will also be job openings for nurses and substitutes. Applicants will be able to register for the job fair starting November 1.
