Cobb Schools Foundation on Working Together to End Student Homelessness

November 11 — Every day in Cobb County, hundreds of students face a challenge most of us never see. They don’t have a stable place to call home.
In a roundtable conversation hosted by Dr. Ike Reighard, President and CEO of MUST Ministries and Senior Pastor of Piedmont Church, four community leaders share how compassion, collaboration, and action are changing lives through the Cobb Schools Foundation’s Family Stabilization Program. Chris Leggett, CEO of LGE Community Credit Union, explains why local businesses must play a role: “As a business in this community, serving people means serving all people.”
Kati Auton, Homeless Liaison for Cobb County Schools, reveals the startling reality that “over 2,000 students were identified last school year as experiencing homelessness.”
The daily work being done to keep those students in school and supported is highlighted by Davida Morgan Washington, Chair of the Family Stabilization Committee, who emphasizes the partnerships and resources that have helped families overcome crises, especially during the pandemic. And Frank Wigington, representing the North Georgia State Fair, shares how community generosity and a matching gift initiative are having a positive impact.
These voices show how the community is working together to help end homelessness and ensure every Cobb County student has a safe place to learn and grow.
