Gifted Endorsement

The Gifted In-Field Endorsement is an add-on to a clear renewable Georgia teaching certificate. It applies to instructional certification fields and prepares teachers to instruct gifted learners. Cobb County School District is a state-approved provider for the Gifted In-Field Endorsement. This program is governed by GaPSC requirements and provided only to current district teachers. It requires graduate-level work and consists of three courses, including two face-to-face sessions, CTLS coursework, and field experiences for a total of 200 hours (20 PLUs). It is completed sequentially within one school year. Administrator recommendation and candidate application windows occur during the spring and pre-planning periods prior to the program's start.

Exceptional Child Course

The Exceptional Child course fulfills the HB 671 requirement for Georgia educators and provides a foundational understanding of the characteristics, instructional needs, and legal considerations for students with disabilities and other exceptionalities. Designed for educators seeking initial certification or currently working toward meeting state mandates, this course offers essential knowledge and practical strategies to support diverse learners in inclusive classroom settings.

During the 2025-2026 school year, the Exceptional Child course will be offered January 21, 2026-March 11, 2026. Class is held via Teams twice a week and independent coursework is housed in CTLS. Interested individuals can apply here by January 20, 2026. Please contact the course instructor, Amanda Hopper (Amanda.hopper@cobbk12.org), with any questions.
