Cobb Schools' Athlete of the Week program is a weekly recognition of a male and a female student-athlete that perform at high levels in their sport, in the classroom, and in their school communities. The program is made possible by support from BSN.

This week's winners are swimmers from Walton and Allatoona:

Elizabeth Isakson, Swimming, Walton

Elizabeth won an incredible four state championships at the state meet at Georgia Tech's McAuley Aquatic Center last weekend. She won two individual gold medals in the 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley, as well as two more anchoring both the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.

"Elizabeth is the heart and soul of this girl’s team," said her coach Ty Vernon. "She strives to improve and drives the other kids to follow suit through her hard work and competitive nature. On top of that, she organizes fun activities to ensure everyone truly feels like a member of the team! She does everything with a huge smile on her face and is always quick to embrace her competitors after a race. It’s rare to see such a humble personality on such an accomplished and competitive athlete."

"She represents Walton so well in all respects," agreed Walton Athletic Director Chris Williams. "Elizabeth is a model student-athlete. She is a leader in the pool and on the pool deck for her team, but she is also an excellent student in the classroom and an example to her peers in the hallways. She is exactly what we want a Walton Raider to be."

Noah Smith, Swimming, Allatoona

Noah won a state championship with a gold in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 20.73. He also claimed a silver in the 100 freestyle, and anchored two relays to finish 6th in the state.

"Noah truly means the world to me," said his coach Michaela Hicks. "He is a leader and a critical component of our team. He has gone so far above and beyond all season.

"It is my first season coaching swim," Coach Hicks continued, "and Noah has exceeded what is expected of him as an athlete. In addition to his rigorous training schedule, Noah has helped me write practice plans for our team as a whole. He is an excellent mentor for younger swimmers, and a world of help to me!"
