HAVEN Academy TOTY Reacts to her Surprise Gift Blitz Basket

December wraps up the season of giving, but there are some among us who give all-year-round—teachers. They are not only the givers of knowledge and experiences; they also give of themselves through their time, kindness, and caring actions. Teachers live a life of service to others, and their work will impact the community for decades. This year has highlighted even more the importance of our teachers and their giving spirit.

In years past, the community has been able to celebrate the District’s top teachers at a Teacher of the Year Pep rally, honoring the top teacher from every school in Cobb. This year, however, the pep rally is not possible due to the ongoing fight against COVID.

Nevertheless, the Cobb Chamber of Commerce and local community organizations still wanted an opportunity to thank some of the District’s top teachers for all that they do for Cobb students.

They came bearing gifts and holiday cheer for the teachers of the year at five schools. The sponsors included Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Elf on the Shelf, LGE Community Credit Union, Ed Voyles Automotive group, and Superior Plumbing.

The community members surprised the following teachers: Lorin Rosado, H.A.V.E.N at Skyview; Kim Pair, Lewis Elementary School; Karen Smith, Murdock Elementary School; Kristen Muller, Shallowford Falls Elementary School; and Beth Foster, Osborne High School.

Selected from among their peers, Cobb Schools' Teachers of the Year are among the best and most celebrated educators in our district. Highlighted for their expert use of instructional and academic strategies, the list of TOTYs represents Cobb's most distinguished and well-respected professionals. They are known as teacher leaders, tireless champions of their students, and mentors and coaches of their fellow educators and staff.
