Smyrna Elementary student wins praise for invention

Kindergarten is not too early to be an inventor. Rising first-grader Hanshikaa is proof. The Smyrna Elementary School student recognized a problem for fellow kindergarten students learning remotely—how to get the teacher’s attention without interrupting the entire class.

Hanshikaa used simple household materials to fashion a special light on her computer that she used to alert her teacher when she had a question.

The young inventor shows off her creation in this video, which caught the attention of Georgia Public Broadcasting.

Hanshikaa is going to continue pursuing more inventions. In addition, she plans to participate in Georgia Tech’s K-12 InVenture.
