In Cobb, the celebration of Teachers of Year continues all school year. In the latest event, the District’s top teachers were recognized along with another group of world-class winners from Cobb County—the Atlanta Braves.

Many of the leaders of Cobb County were there for the Cobb Chamber luncheon, where Braves Manager Brian Snitker delivered the special keynote. Chamber Board Chairman John Loud also spoke on the economic impact the Braves stadium has had in Cobb, especially towards education. After the recent passing of Ed-SPLOST VI, that impact will continue long after the World Series

Beyond the Braves mascot Blooper dancing on stage, one of the main highlights was when Cobb’s Teachers of the Years picked up the keys to their new cars.

The new cars are courtesy of the Ed Voyles Automotive Group which provides new cards for the top Teacher of the Year level winners every year. If the District Teacher of the Year goes on to win Georgia Teacher of the Year, Ed Voyles will give the teacher the car to keep forever.

The community may see Cobb’s top teachers Dr. Darline Douangvilay, Michelle Gottenberg, and Beth Foster driving around town and parking at school in their new cars.
