Allatoona and McEachern Student-Athletes Earn AOW Awards

Cobb Schools Athlete of the Week program is a weekly recognition of a male and a female student-athlete that perform at high levels on the field, in the classroom, and in their school communities. The program is made possible by support from BSN.
This week's winners are:
Gracie Pynes, Allatoona, Volleyball
Gracie led the Buc volleyball team this season in aces and digs. The Allatoona ladies made it to the state tournament in a very competitive region. The team had the misfortune of playing Buford in the first-round, who went on to win the state championship.
Gracie received 1st Team All-Region for the second year in a row. In addition, she is also a back-to-back GVCA (Georgia Volleyball Coaches Association) All-State player.
Head coach Joseph Soley is a friend of the Pynes family and has known Gracie her entire life. He is very proud of the student-athlete she has become. "She is very intelligent and talented," Coach Soley said. "She holds a 4.00 GPA and she was our leader Captain this year. She leads both on and off the court."
"Her knowledge of the game helps her succeed," he continued. "She is top ten in MaxPreps for 6A in aces & digs. I am so excited to see where she ends up playing at the next level."
Victor Okafor, McEachern, Football
In last week's win over the Pebblebrook Falcons for the Region 2-7A title, Victor had 5 tackles (1 for a loss), a sack, another QB pressure, and a pass break-up. In other words, he was everywhere all the time and making it very difficult for the Falcon offense to make any kind of play in the 33-20 McEachern victory.
Great work, Gracie and Victor! You both define what it means to be a student-athlete and a leader and an inspiration to your teammates and classmates.
