Hillgrove Wrestlers Sweep AOW Honors

Cobb Schools' Athlete of the Week (AOW) program is a weekly recognition of a male and a female student-athlete that perform at high levels in their sport, in the classroom, and in their school communities. The program is made possible by support from BSN Sports.
This week's AOW winners are a pair of wrestlers from Hillgrove. Precious Olojede is a sophomore for the Hawks and teammate Bray Gibson is a senior.
Precious Olojede, Hillgrove, Wrestling
This is her first-year in wrestling and Precious is 9-0 with eight of her victories coming from pins. She is a positive and steady influence on her teammates. Her calm nature helps in the chaos that wrestling can be. It is rare to see this kind of maturity in a first-year wrestler, but she has shown consistent dedication to her team and the sport and puts in the hard work necessary to succeed. She also has the same level of dedication in the classroom according to her coach, Adam Keith:
"Precious takes her academics very seriously and does not play around in the classroom. Her teammates also love her positivity and commitment."
"I am super proud of her," Coach Keith continued. "Wrestling is not an easy sport at all and it's been hard to convince girls to join. Precious has exceeded any expectations I had and has grown to love the sport. Her confidence and poise on the mat are incredible and she keeps working hard and winning matches!"
Bray Gibson, Hillgrove, Wrestling
With a recent win over the defending 5A state champ, Bray is having a remarkable season so far and is currently 5-0. He is the unquestioned leader of the Hawk team and is in his fourth year of wrestling for Hillgrove. He also played football for two years before deciding to focus on wrestling. Like Precious, he is also an excellent student and leader in the classroom.
"Bray is the heart and soul of the team," said head coach Shawn Slenczka. "He is the hardest worker in the room and a great role model. He is one of the most exciting wrestlers I have ever coached. He leaves everything on the mat and no one has more fun wrestling than he does. His willingness to try new moves and not back down from a challenge is what separates him from the pack."
"Bray and Precious have been working hard and have had great starts to the season," said Hillgrove Athletic Director Johnathan Brown. "Bray's positive energy shines in both his matches and in school, and Precious is impressing everyone with her strong performance in her first year of competition. We are thrilled to have two wrestlers chosen as Athletes of the Week. We are so proud of their success on and off the mat!"
Well done, Precious and Bray and great job leading these young student-athletes, Coaches Keith and Slenczka! With these two student-athletes as examples, we know great things are coming for the Hawk wrestling program for years to come. Congratulations Hillgrove!
